Why Did We Create the myIDkey?
We recognized a familiar pain point in most digital users lives and built a simple password management device. Today, we have literally hundreds of passwords, account numbers and other important information that we have to remember. myIDkey is the first fingerprint, voice-search, secure Bluetooth / USB drive that displays passwords and ID on the go as well as works with all smart mobile devices and personal computers. The myIDkey software will import from a number of password managers, in addition to supporting certain standard file types such as CSV formats. We will be publishing a list of services and file types the myIDkey importer will support.
Yes, myIDkey has two buttons to help you navigate up and down through the menus and open keycard entries to see your credentials.
Yes a random number/password generator is included. This is a best practice that helps all of us keep ahead of the hackers.
On average our target battery life is 7 days in standby mode. As a best practice we recommend charging the device each week. Once the device is plugged into a USB port it will start charging.
This feature will not be released on the version1 software release but the lock/unlocking PC and Mobile devices feature is on our software roadmap for future releases.
If you lose your device and you have previously sync’d it to your myIDkey cloud account you will be able to sync the data on a new device once it is registered. The myIDkey exporter also supports the export of data so you can back up the data locally.
If your myIDkey is lost or stolen, data will automatically be deleted after a set number of failed attempts to gain access.
The data stored on the myIDkey is encrypted using a AES-256 bit key. The product uses your fingerprint to decode the data. You can also opt to setup a second level of authentication by using a tapping sequence adding another layer of authentication for added security.
Yes. We call these keycards. Each keycard can consist of a url, username, password, and custom fields for items such as passport or social security numbers etc.
We do not currently have the facility to remotely erase the myIDkey. It has been designed to be tamper-proof supporting an auto erase function after a number of unauthorized attempts. The PCB has also been designed to be tamper-proof.
When using a supported browser on a computer (Mac or PC) you will need to install a small browser plug-in. This plug-in helps the device recognize a url and then offers your credentials saved on the device to enable the auto-fill or auto-logon feature. For IOS devices you will use the myIDkey IOS app to auto-fill or auto-logon to your favorite web sites. For Android devices you will use the myIDkey Android app.

When we decided to make this product, we were aware of some of the concerns around using biometric fingerprints to unlock access to secure data. We spent a lot of time on the security architecture, and included a second level of authentication, which we call Tap Sequence. We added this feature for the very security conscious user. Think of the Tap Sequence as (an optional) combo lock code you can utilize after you have used your finger-swipe to authenticate the key.
We will have distribution partners that will offer a range of accessories for the myIDkey device. We spent a lot of time with our designers and the mechanical engineering team on the best way to protect the device, not materially increase the size or weight, not create a weakness in the design but have a sleeve that protects the fingerprint reader and locks into place. We toyed with idea of hinged covers (sleeves). After some research and practical experience from our Contact Manufacturer we decided to offer an accessory that locked into place via the USB interface, was light-weight but offered maximum protection of the unit.
Initially myIDKey will support the Mac OS X and the Windows family. It will work with most modern internet browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and IE. We plan to add Linux support after launch, in future software releases.
myIDKey will support iOS and Android devices out of the gate. We will add Blackberry and Windows Phone 8 support in future software releases, after launch. Windows RT and other Mobile OS’s, not listed above, will be evaluated for consideration as part of the product road map reviews.
The expected retail price for the myIDkey 2GB will be $149. Accessories such as sleeves will retail for $9.99 – $14.99. Standard (free) and Premium Cloud services will also be available to users.

Here’s how the Tap Sequence works – think of it as a 6 digit combo lock. The Tap sequence is optional, the user will have to enable it first, and create a PIN Code. After the PIN code is setup, follow these steps to unlock your myIDkey:
1. Authenticate with your fingerprint on your myIDkey
2. On the next screen, it will ask you to enter your Tap Sequence 6 digits PIN code: (say your PIN is “A1B2C3)
3. For each digit, use the Up and Down buttons to pick from (0-9, A-F)
4. To move back and forth between digit locations, press and hold Up or Down for 1 sec.
5. Once you finish entering your PIN code, press and hold the Down button for 3 secs to authenticate and unlock access to your device.

No, for security reasons, myIDkey will only pair with mobile devices or computers.
No, myIDkey data is written and stored to NAND flash, similar to a USB flash drive, and it doesn’t require power to retain the stored data. The data is available as soon as you charge your device battery.
Bluetooth securely pairs and connects myIDkey to a smartphone, or a tablet for authenticating the user to access the myIDkey app on the mobile device. Bluetooth is also used to sync keycards data between myIDkey and the connected mobile device. On a Bluetooth enabled computer, it allows a user to access, and manage all his/her stored keycards data and to use the full functionality of the myIDkey product similar to the USB connection.
Due to security concerns around access to stored data on the device, we felt a removable microSD would be a potential security hole.

Yes, all encrypted data can only be accessed with fingerprint authentication. Backup files don’t require use of fingerprint, in case the device is lost or damaged.
Very secure, we have a hosted website on a leading cloud provider (like AWS, Joyent, etc.). In addition we will implement best practices to secure our hosted website.
Our first version for voice search will be English language based. We will be adding additional languages in future versions releases.
Yes, you can have more than one person using one myIDkey device. The primary user can set access rights for secondary users for that one device.
